Oak is born in 2009, in Strasbourg (France), formed by friends from local punk-hardcore bands (The Boring, I am John Spartan, Chaos is and Hope is a curse), who wanted to explore new sounds landscapes. They released a first demo in 2010, influenced by bands like Explosions in the sky, This will destroy you, Russian Circles or Caspian. The band toured in Eastern Europe in 2011, with their friends from Theme of Laura. Oak wrote and recorded their first full length LP “Not Afraid Anymore” in 2012. The release in January 2013 was supported by Emotionnaly Unstables Records, Dream Comes True Records, Dingleberry Records and Saddest Songs Records. Between the first demo and this LP, the band played with bands such as Envy, Celeste, Unkind or Oxes. These shows, added to inevitables post-hardcore influences (Isis, Cult of Luna, Neurosis), pushed the band’s sound to something louder. From now on, drums are powerfull, the bass guitar is growling out, building fat and solid rythms, on which guitars are screaming out and tearing apart.
